Clean and Translucent

Whether it’s updating a tired looking space, a full renovation or new build, finding the right window furnishings for your home often comes with some challenges. Sometimes it’s finding that perfect fabric, other times it’s the practical requirements of the space that dictate what’s possible and what’s not.

This challenge is one which consultant Benita relishes an opportunity to solve and when InBetween architects sought advice, it set her mind ticking.

This particular job in Toorak had several considerations, with limitations to the depth of the window reveals but a need for both a solid blockout and a light filtering/ privacy treatment on most windows. There was also consideration given to stay true to the seemingly effortless clean line design style of InBetween, so the preference was for all window treatments to seamlessly fit within the window architecture.

The apartment required privacy as it overlooked a busy street and whilst deciduous trees would provide cover during the summer, this wasn’t the case in winter. This meant that Benita had to get creative with a solution that would suit the modern linear look that the architects were crafting but also take into consideration the requirements mentioned.

“Due to the architecture of the windows we selected honeycomb blinds, for their smaller projection from the window and superior insulation properties, introducing light whilst maintaining privacy,” says Benita. “Honeycomb blinds are unique in that they can feature a pump action opening and closing mechanism, making them perfectly child safe, as there are no looped chains.”

The end result was truly spectacular, employing the use of Translucent & Blockout Honeycomb Blinds from the Embrace collection in colour Star Magnolia, which the architect and client are very satisfied with.
