Meet the Team • Warehouse

Behind the curtains at Lovelight there is a talented, hardworking and fun-loving team that keeps the warehouse running smoothly. They are the people who start work early making sure that all our products get from us to the installers and into the glamorous homes which usually adorn our social media. They are the backbone of our organisation and without their hard work we simply could not receive, sort and deliver over 1000 blinds per week to our installers across Victoria. This month we thought we would lift the shutters and tell you a little bit about four of our warehouse superstars.

Starting from the front door, Taylor AKA Taymee is the first team member you will meet. Taylor’s roll is multi-skilled and multi-faceated ranging from reception, warehouse and commercial operation administration through to commercial scheduling. Taylor is the reason we are able to manage and track the movements of ten to twenty THOUSAND products at any one time.

Taylor told us that the most important aspect of her job is, “Ensuring we can have processes and systems in place at the warehouse to ultimately allow smooth installs. In terms of the commercial scheduling part of my job, the most important thing is having great relationships with site supervisors, developers and our installers.”

She then said that the most exciting part is, “having such a  broad role in all departments. It has allowed me to create some amazing bonds with my colleagues. I also love knowing how the whole process works from site visits to seeing jobs get quoted, measured, ordered, picked at the warehouse, scheduled and then finally installed in their beautiful new homes. Getting that full picture is definitely the best aspect of the business.”

Meanwhile on her LDO’s (Lovelight day off) Taymee uses the additional time off to “stay home on the farm and have a bit of a reset day with my animals.”

Next there is Gary and Gordon, both hardworking men of few words, many laughs. Gary looks after the Custom and Commercial Divisions of the warehouse and Gordon looks after the Volume Division. Between them our 600 square metre warehouse runs like a tight ship - with plenty of friendly banter on board.

Both men start their day early (around 6am) which typically involves receiving goods into the warehouse then dispatching and actioning any requests from other staff members.

When asked what is the most important aspect of their jobs, Gary said he knows that “accurate input of product items and clear communication with other staff is key.”

Gordon’s modest answer was that, “it’s just important to me to do this job to the best of my ability.”

On the flip side, Gary told us that the most exciting aspect of their jobs is simply “finishing work for the week on Thursday at 3.55pm!”

When we asked them whats the most enjoyable aspect of their job, both, without hesitating, said it was the general chat, jokes and socialisation between them and the rest of the team that they love.

Indeed we found that the biggest way that these two differ is how they spend their additional days off - their LDO’s. Gary likes to “relax and build with LEGO Technics” whereas you are more likely to find Gordon outdoors on the back of his horse.

Finally it’s time to meet Gavin, our lead delivery driver or as he likes to be known -  Steering wheel Attendant. Gavin is the man behind the wheel of the Lovelight Truck delivering our products to all the places they need to be around Victoria, including installers in Albury, Wodonga and Warrnambool, and travelling an average of 1170kms PER WEEK.

Gavin told us that the most important aspect of his job is “making sure blinds are delivered on time and to the correct installer” but the most exciting aspect of his job is “Dodging roadside radars and red light cameras!” Even on his LDO’s you will still find Gavin behind a steering wheel -cruising around on his Harley Davidson.
